Arch - Jefferson National Expansion Memorial, St. Louis, Missouri
A part of the Jefferson
National Expansion Memorial is the Gateway Arch in St. Louis, Missouri.
Standing along the banks of the Mississippi River and rising to 630 feet,
it was designed as a "catenary arch", and made of stainless steel.
This dramatic photo view, taken from standing under and on the inside of
the base gives a slight hint of just how high this monument is, currently
the highest American Monument. Another view of this archway taken the same
day, can be found here, which shows the
complete profile view of the archway.
