in the Sand - White Sands National Monument, New Mexico
At this time, this is my all time favorite, of all of the photos
I've taken. I've entered it in numerous photo contests, and it's never
let me down. It's "placed" in every contest it's been entered. In fact,
I used it as a trademark "desktop" photo after I formatted a customers
computer, replacing that dreaded Windows® default landscape photos.
There are copies of this photo on hundreds of computers across Southern
New Mexico.
It was taken during the White Sands Balloon Invitational in 2003. I've
been to other balloon invitationals since and I just can't seem to get
another photo quite as dramatic and colorful as this one. And trust me,
I've tried. That may be part of the problem, I'm trying too hard. This
one came quite natural and I didn't have to try very hard at all, just
centered, focused and pushed the *PHD button.*Push
