St. Louis Archway - Jefferson National Expansion Memorial, St. Louis, Missouri
St. Louis Archway - Jefferson National Expansion Memorial, St. Louis, Missouri
To me, this is a "timeless" structure design. So clean and simple, yet it stands with such majesty above the the skyline. Completed in 1965 it looks as modern today as then. And the best part of visiting a place like this is that even the worst photographers can take beautiful pictures of the Archway. My biggest problem was trying to get the entire structure into one shot. It's over 600 feet tall and 600 feet wide at the base. As you can tell, I had to walk quite a distance away to get the shot I wanted.
Another photo of this archway, taken the same day, from a different view can be found here in the Still Life / Art section.
